English 원문
A pale rectangle on the carpet marked the spot where Finn expected the first mirror, yet nothing stood there. He knelt, the weave pressing into his knees, and traced the narrow beam that still slipped through the curtain gap like polished steel. Outside, clear skies kept the sunlight strong, while Heath turned pages of a paperback beside the window and said nothing. Finn opened the supply box, chose a mirror with elegant design, and felt its plastic back stay cool against his warm palm. A striped cat unfolded from the shade, blinking at the radiant glow that drifted across its whiskers before sliding away. Using a trustworthy protractor, Finn propped the mirror against a paperback and eased it into place.
The light spot leaped to the relay mirror, then climbed toward the white card, yet it stopped three fingers short of the target. Finn nudged the paperback slightly, the beam kissed the card’s edge, yet the book tipped sideways. The support slid across the table with a dry shuffle, loosening the tape that held the card flat. Finn clenched his teeth as the cat’s tail flicked and Heath murmured, “That squeak sounded resentful” when the tape peeled. Meanwhile, the sun inched across the clear glass, gradually pushing the bright spot farther off course. Finn waited for the next cloud to dim the beam, then snatched the chance to reorder his setups in a calmer rhythm. He slid the paperback under the card as ballast, placed a slim notebook beneath the mirror next, and watched both items steady. A narrowed beam reappeared, trembling but usable, and the cat sat beside it like a statue, whiskers lit silver.
The spot finally reached the white card, wobbling within a small oval rather than a perfect circle. Finn stepped back once the relay mirror still held its angle, even though the card’s curling corner stayed slightly shadowed. Heath turned another page, the cat blinked slowly, and dust motes sailed through the tilted path of light toward the bookshelf. Outside, a breeze tugged the curtain, and the beam shifted half a finger, yet it kept travelling across the improvised maze. Beyond the carpet edge, those bright motes kept drifting in the slender column long after Finn walked toward the doorway.
