English 원문
The wire hoop gleamed under the sun, but one corner showed a dull, lumpy solder bead. Elsa balanced the frame between thumb and forefinger, dipped it in the bucket, and lifted with steady arms. A thin sheet formed across the ring, its shifting colours sliding like oil over water. Halfway toward the wind-shadow wall, the film dimpled along the corner and burst without a sound. Tiny droplets splashed against her sleeve and tapped the short grass near the toes of her shoes. She paused, wrist stiff from holding the hoop level, and watched the rainbow reflection vanish. Behind her, the slotted spoon on the table rocked gently after the bucket’s rim had nudged it. Nothing in the bright scene clearly pointed to the quick failure, so the cause stayed hidden.
A ceramic bowl with a few steamed asparagus stalks perched beside the tools in the sunshine. Their tips carried a tangy scent that mixed with soap and the warm grass nearby. Elsa had already stirred the solution once earlier in the morning with a wooden stick. The mixture had been enriched with glycerine today, so she doubted thickness alone caused the pop. She used the slotted spoon as a scoop, skimming loose foam that drifted across the surface. If the foam had stayed, it would have torn every film before it left the bucket. With the rim clear, she wet her fingertip and rubbed the bumpy corner until metal felt smoother. She preferred that simple utensil to hunting for sandpaper somewhere on the crowded shelf nearby. Raising the hoop again, she aimed for the same slow lift; colours appeared brighter and the upward walk felt lighter.
Two steps from the sheltered fence, an unexpected puff of air rolled over the lawn and set the sheet trembling. Elsa shifted strategy without breaking stride and turned her body sideways, blocking the gust with her shoulder. She then shifted pressure between her palms to cancel the wobble in the quivering sheet. For the first time that afternoon, the trembling film finally held firm across the ring. At the wall she stopped, knees bending slightly to steady balance, and observed the corner that had failed before. The streak was gone; the earlier bursts had come from rough metal, not from wind after all. She eased the hoop forward, let sunlight pour through the membrane, then lowered it in a slow arc toward the grass. Tiny beads slid from the edge and continued to race downhill along the frame after she stepped back.
