"Line's gone," Lily called.

Chalk dust puffed as her stub slid sideways across the rough concrete.

It left a blurry pale streak instead of the clean border between blue and gold.

Across the trailer, Hope pressed sheets of gold tissue onto the wire.

A paste jar under her elbow sent out a sticky sour-sweet smell.

Sweet, yeast-like paste smell drifted slowly from the buckets beside Lily.

It mingled with earthy rose petals and a faint metallic tang from fresh-cut wire.

The wooden trailer wheels creaked when someone climbed a ladder, and footsteps echoed around the corrugated shed.

Lily knelt lower, trying to squeeze the last sharp edge out of the worn chalk.

The tip crumbled again, scattering dusty flakes that stuck to her palms.

She left the smudged outline and crossed to the nearby supply tables.

A half-empty bucket of paste sat uncovered, and a vinegar-sharp odor rose as the top layer stiffened.

She stirred it with a wooden stick, then ladled thick blobs into a clean pail.

At the next table, carnations waited in shallow trays, their spice-tinged fragrance pushing against the damp paste smell.

She sorted loose petals by shade, dropping bruised pieces into a bucket where wilt already tasted metallic on the air.

A volunteer had parked a plate of bread beside the flowers nearby.

Glazed strawberry jam glowed under the roof and filled the space with candy-sweet steam.

Plastic cutlery rattled each time someone dipped for a taste, adding resin-like notes to the already crowded air.

Along the trailer, the district youth club painted plywood waves in blue, and generous splashes of color dotted their sleeves like confetti.

While Lily carried the refilled bucket back, a dull clink rang out.

A worker had shifted a tool tray, and her broken chalk stub rolled to her shoe.

She paused, paste vapour curling upward as the bucket pressed warm moisture against her hip.

Pinching the chalk near its centre, she lowered the bucket and drew once, arm steady, fingers close together.

The line emerged narrow, bright, and unbroken, slicing neatly between the two colour zones.

Hope stepped over from the wire panel and copied the motion beside her with a stub of yellow chalk.

Lily held the white fragment, Hope held the yellow, and their meeting stripes formed a crisp corner on the concrete floor.

「線不見了。」Lily喊道。

粉筆末在粗糙的水泥地上彈起灰塵，

留下模糊的淡色痕，而非藍金分界的俐落直線。

拖車另一側，Hope把金色薄紙按在鐵絲網上。

她手肘下的漿糊罐飄出黏稠又酸甜的味道。

有人踩上梯子，木輪咯吱作響，腳步聲在鐵皮棚內回盪。

Lily把身子貼得更低，想把殘粉筆最後一點尖端擠出來，

粉筆卻再次碎裂，灰末黏在掌心。

她離開模糊的線，走向一旁的供應桌。

半桶未蓋好的漿糊表面結皮，揚起刺鼻的酸味。

她用木棒攪動，再把厚重漿糊舀進乾淨桶裡。

隔桌的康乃馨排在淺盤中，辛香味頂著潮濕漿糊味。

她按色分揀散瓣，把受壓變色的瓣丟進桶裡，那裡已有帶金屬味的枯萎氣。

志工把一盤麵包放在花旁。

閃亮草莓果醬在屋頂下發光，糖香像蒸氣充滿空間。

每當有人用塑膠餐具挖一口，塑料顫聲添上樹脂氣味。

拖車邊，區青少年俱樂部把藍色油漆刷上夾板浪形，

寬厚的彩點如碎紙炮落在袖口。

Lily提著補滿的桶回去時，「啷」的一聲響。

工人移動工具盤，碎粉筆滾到她鞋尖。

她停下，桶沿的蒸氣在髖旁裊繞。

她捏住粉筆中段，放下桶子，手臂平穩畫出一筆。

細亮而完整的直線俐落分開兩區色帶。

Hope從鐵絲面板走近，用黃粉筆在旁複畫相同動作。

Lily握著白粉筆碎段，Hope握著黃色的；兩條新線在水泥地面交出銳利角度。
