A swallow skimmed into the open barn.
Wind pushed through a loose door and flapped a strap. The strap swung across a small window in a curve. Cool air brushed its feathers without a sound.
The gust faded, and the strap hung straight. Then wind rose again, and the strap swept back. It tapped a tin scoop on a grain bin. The scoop slid, dropped, and gave a small crash. Fine dust puffed and settled along the bin's rim.
During a quiet gap, the swallow flew to the strap. It gripped the edge and tugged it to the side. Its feet held while the barn air stayed still.
Wind rose again and pulled the freed strap wider. The small window space stayed clear for a longer moment. The swallow shot through and reached a high beam. It moved along the beam to explore the rafters. Dust drifted as its claws closed on the wood.
