Felix Inside the Control Hall-

English 原文
Steam from the nearby river plant drifted across the plaza as Felix hurried toward the glass-walled control hall. His tablet already showed live charts, but he still wanted to watch the first public reading on the big board: the brand-new turbine promised a carbon footprint thinner than any previous line on the district chart. Fingers tapped the screen in quick bursts while sunlight reflected off the revolving doors.
At the entrance, the turnstile read his badge, clicked, then stalled. Felix pressed again; metal arms shivered, then rolled aside. Inside, a quiet pulse of machinery filled the air. Racks of batteries glimmered behind mesh, each linked by cables to the smart grid that balanced traffic lights, elevators, and every kettle in a ten-block radius. Engineers in gray jackets moved between panels, noting how this lattice of sustainable technology shifted load with barely a hum. The scene looked ordinary, yet the arrangement itself felt like a silent revolution of wires and algorithms.
Felix stepped onto the observation platform and raised his camera. Before he could frame the turbine graph, every wall screen dimmed, then flared white. A star-field replaced the energy map; a caption scrolled from a remote feed, showing telemetry from a deep-space probe coasting beyond the outer planets. Gasps echoed; chairs scraped. The probe’s signal had jumped onto the building’s fiber loop, flooding the control hall with cosmic data that no one here expected.
An engineer knelt, yanked a patch cable, and the star-field vanished. Power demand briefly spiked; lights flickered; capacitors clicked like distant drums. The grid absorbed the bump, rerouted current, and the earlier turbine graph slid back into view. Felix, startled, reset his camera and captured the curve as it steadied. Numbers on every column dropped, each decimal settling lower than the last reading he had studied at dawn.
The crowd thinned; jackets rustled; tools returned to belts. Felix backed toward the exit, tablet pressed against his ribs. White digits on the main board rested at zero.
