Lift Above the Harbor-

English 原文
The harbor warehouse stood in chalky dawn light while Lena balanced a coil of orange cable against her hip. Beyond the loading ramp, a retired submarine rocked softly, its black skin throwing back ribboned reflections. Inside the building, an unused freight lift waited beneath hanging wires and dust. She tapped the call button; gears muttered and the cage eased down. Lena stepped through the mesh doors, flipped the tarnished brass lever, and for a moment served as operator of the intricate machinery. Her plan was simple: ascend to the fifth floor and restore power to the museum’s radio room before the first curious families wandered in.
The lift shuddered after two floors. Indicator bulbs blinked, then darkness wrapped the cabin. Lena’s shoulders tensed; she braced one boot against the wall and pushed the lever again. Nothing. An oily smell drifted from the ceiling hatch. She pulled a pocket wrench and loosened a panel, searching by phone light. A relay appeared charred, its copper edges brittle. She tapped it; sparks snapped but the motor remained silent. Her palm pressed the lever once more, harder this time. Metal clicked, the brake released halfway, yet the cage refused to rise. Silence settled, broken only by the distant gulls outside.
She inhaled, then kicked the lever down before slamming it forward in a single motion. The relay caught; motors groaned; the lift jerked upward quicker than designed. Numbers on the dial blurred—three, four, six—until a final clang echoed through the shaft. The doors slid apart, revealing not a corridor but open sky framed by roof rails. An entire field of half-inflated festival balloons spread across the concrete, their colored fabric turning gently in the breeze, lending the scene an ethereal sheen. Lena’s stance widened; she had risen beyond every floor and burst onto the roof where volunteers hurried between ropes and gas cylinders.
A volunteer glanced over, eyes rounding at the unexpected arrival, yet the crowd kept working, knots tightening, burners ticking. Lena spotted a weatherproof breaker box bolted beside the stairwell door. She shrugged, approached, and fed her orange cable into the vacant slot. When the switch dropped, lights flicked on across upper windows; somewhere below, exhibit panels hummed back to life. The rooftop activity absorbed the extra glow, colors sharpening around the balloon envelopes. A gust tugged fabric upward, then calmed, leaving a soft rustle over the concrete. Canvas envelopes hung motionless against the pale sky.
