Milo Under the Water Tower-

English 原文
Milo balanced on the grassy embankment beneath the old water tower, camera strap biting into his shoulder. He had planned this dawn visit for weeks because a single endangered heron often landed on the highest rail. The faded metal structure had been painted decades earlier, and flakes drifted down each time the wind shifted. Sunlight slipped through broken clouds and threw pale stripes across his notebook, where timing notes crowded the margins. If he had remembered to charge the camera fully, none of the trouble would have started. Instead, the power light blinked once and faded. His left hand tapped the useless button while the bird’s shadow crossed the concrete.
Milo dug through his backpack and found a spare battery wrapped in foil to keep dust away. He snapped it into place; the display woke, then a circle of mist crawled across the lens glass. The cool morning air had been warming quickly, so condensation claimed the smooth surface before any photo could be taken. He wiped the lens with the hem of his sleeve, yet smears remained like shallow ripples on water. While he waited for clarity, a low mechanical hum rolled overhead, and a peacekeeping drone drifted beyond the tower. The city had deployed the machine for routine surveillance, and its whirling rotors startled the heron into flight. Milo’s shoulders sank as the white wings disappeared behind warehouses.
Silence settled after the drone crossed the river, yet something small fluttered downward on a yellow ribbon. It landed beside Milo: an irreplaceable gold ring tied to a note fragment that the wind soon removed. The photograph could wait; he pocketed the ring so a guardian neighbor might reclaim it later. As the ribbon drifted away, the heron glided back, landing lower on a railing now warmed by sunlight. Milo crouched behind a steel support, pressed the cleaned lens against the viewfinder frame, and the shutter finally snapped. Wings spread within the perfect focus line, and the tower, ring, and morning all settled into the image together.
