The Saffron Drawer Shifted-

English 原文
Warm air drifted from aging vents, carrying faint scents of garlic and sun-dried oregano. Light from a high window settled on metal bowls stacked like quiet bells. Leo stepped into the community kitchen, a place where calendars from ten years earlier still clung to cracked tiles. He had promised himself that this morning he would recreate the small tomato-pastry appetizer his grandmother once served at a street festival that she called a once in a lifetime night. The countertop offered resistance immediately: the rolling pin lay warped, and the wooden boards had been darkened by years of oil. Even so, a splash of sauce added bright color, and a pinch of rosemary scattered across the dough like loose creativity on blank paper.
The first barrier arrived when a drawer refused to slide. If it had opened easily, Leo would have finished earlier, but instead he rocked it side to side until cutlery rattled free. A hidden jar of saffron rolled into view, surprising him with aroma as sharp as citrus. He decided to introduce new flavors, stirring a few red strands into melted butter. The dough, however, stuck to the table; flour clouds burst upward, coated his elbows, and clung to the window ledge. Undeterred, he pressed the circles thinner, folded them twice, and sealed them with the bright butter mix. When he reached the rusty oven, the heat knob jammed halfway; he tapped it with a wooden spoon until the dial shifted and a low flame answered.
Fifteen minutes later the pastries puffed unevenly, some edges crisp, others pale. He brushed honey along one corner, then arranged the pieces in a spiral, hoping the pattern might speak of a longer culinary journey than the short morning allowed. Outside, church bells rang; inside, saffron smoke hovered near the ceiling beams and drifted toward the open door. Steam hovered over the single, bright plate on the wooden counter.
