English 原文
A pale rectangle on the sun-warmed sill marked the lighter paint where a photo frame no longer pressed against the wood. Yara leaned closer, brushing her fingertips over the smooth patch, then lifted the drinking glass from beside it. Yesterday’s spring clean had left the windowsill almost bare; only a faint line of grit scratched her skin as she slid the cool cylinder toward the empty, spring clean space. Tiny bubbles clung to the inner wall like beads, and their ridged surfaces pricked the pads of her fingers. She paused to mind the gap between the glass base and a shallow groove in the paint; any tilt might spoil the rainbow already stretching across the floorboards. Outside, beyond the closed pane, an early-season park glimmered in the same sunshine, but Yara’s focus stayed on the coloured band that widened whenever the glass edged forward.
A slow shove sent the glass gliding a centimetre. The movement nudged a pebble she had used as a marker; the pebble rolled, bumped a pencil, and the pencil slid until its point tapped the curtain hem. That light touch was enough: cloth sagged against the beam, the fragile ecosystem of rays and refractions ruptured, and the rainbow lurched upward onto the cabinet door. Yara’s shoulders jerked; her elbow knocked the sill, but she caught the pencil before it could drop. She wedged a folded dishcloth beneath the curtain’s edge, lifting the fabric just high enough for light to slip under again. Colours spilled back across the floor, softer now, trembling as the curtain swayed. Warm air rising from the sunlit glass kept the water inside circulating; even without further contact, the spectrum drifted like slow smoke along the boards.
On the outside ledge, a sparrow hopped closer to the window, its claws rasping lightly over the paint. The bird tilted its head at the shifting reds and violets within, then sprang away; its wings beat once, scattering loose flakes of old varnish into the afternoon air.
