English 原文
Boris trotted up the metal steps of the footbridge, shoes ringing while his card hand skimmed the brushed-steel rail that glowed amber where afternoon sun met it. Halfway across, a gust funneled through the knee-high gaps and chilled the thin plastic card wedged between his fingers. At the far end, he dashed down to the ticket gate. The orange reader blinked, he tapped, and nothing moved. A faint mist coated the display; warm hall air had already met the cold card. He pressed again, holding the edge flatter, yet the steadfast turnstile bar stayed locked against his hip. Above it, flaking paint showed the tenacity of winter grime; each layer clung like part of a whole frame that time refused to loosen.
Boris had been watching the countdown board through the glass wall, so every stalled second mattered. He stepped aside, rubbed the card between both palms until a soft fog slipped away, then angled it toward the reader so the laminated face caught a strip of golden ceiling light. The sensor chirped; the bar folded back, and its rubber pad bent with quiet resilience before springing straight again. As he passed, a ceiling fan inspired warmer air downward, pushing a scent of roasted beans from the kiosk toward the platforms. The brief breath of heat restored dry clarity to the reader surface, limiting further fogging while other passengers queued behind. "Made it," he muttered, weaving toward the departure display where his cousin Faye still leaned against a pillar, earphones draped around her neck. A field noise moment followed: the speaker crackled, digits flipped, and the train time slid by one minute, yet no one hurried. Boris flexed his hand; warm tingles climbed along his fingertips toward the knuckles.
