The Loose Clamp on the Wind Harp-

English 原文
No breath of wind brushed the strings; the hillside rested like a held note waiting to begin all around them.
Callum planted his boots wide, knees bent, trusting the slope though thyme tufts let his soles slide.
He believed the harp stood dull because someone had mis-tensioned one pin, an error he meant to correct.
An elm post supported the cedar box, its slight lean gently confirming his suspicion.
Bea crouched beside the stone seat, rolling a beetle from her wrist in easy circles.
Certain of the remedy, he unpocketed a small steel wrench and weighed it between thumb and forefinger.
He braced his hips against the box, lifted the tool, and nudged one brass pin a quarter turn.
The moment metal shifted, a faint ting travelled through his sternum, yet the surrounding air kept silence.
Bea's head tilted; her braid swung like a metronome, yet she offered only a short, puzzled hum.
"Is that it already, or does it need more space?" she asked, tilting her chin without moving closer.
Then a gust climbed the slope, pressed against their calves, and the harp answered with a chord ragged at the edges.
Callum expected clarity; instead, overlapping overtones skittered, as though each string resented his tidy intention.
His shoulders stiffened, weight rocking forward before slowly settling unevenly across both grounded heels.
He caught the centre string between finger and tiny clamp taken from his pouch, pinching it mute to separate the voices.
The harp fell to a hollow drone, yet the valley wind thickened, swirling through untouched strings with fresh, dissonant power.
Callum leaned left, balance shifting across his spine, and released the clamp; the drone returned, weaving into strange new intervals.
Behind him Bea rose, stepped nearer, and let her elbow brush his, nothing more than a question formed in bone contact.
He exhaled, noticing how his ribs settled lower while the music rearranged without permission, richer precisely because it escaped control.
They eased onto the warm stone, weight redistributing until thighs met granite and shoulders shared a vertical line.
Across the cedar box, persistence in the lowest drone merged with a distant church bell, neither overpowering the other.
Between gusts, crickets filled the gap, and Callum noticed their rhythm matching his own slowed breathing.
No plan remained, only the hillside letting sound assemble itself, fragment by fragment, around their still bodies.
Another breeze gathered, bending thyme stalks before reaching the strings, announced first by a slight sway in his torso.
Callum lifted one fingertip, poised above a vibrating wire, feeling the note under the nail yet holding the space unbroken.
