English 原文
The cabinet’s inner lights slid from lavender to mint for the third cycle, and Juno’s fingertip paused above a delicate abrasion streaking the glass.
Griffon stood to her left, one shoe tapping the arcade tile, his reflection fragmented by the shifting LEDs so his face broke into soft pastel panes. The claw’s shadow wandered over the stitched backs of plush turtles, bounced once against a stuffed moon, then drifted away. Juno eased the joystick right; the trolley responded with a pulsing whir, its chain trembling like a tightrope. Metal fingers hung open, silent, as though refusing to speak before being lowered. She breathed on the glass, watched the fog fade, and matched her own stillness to the machine’s measured sway.
A narrow stall appeared: two plush whales wedged nose-to-tail beneath a star-print bear, the stack rocking when the rail rattled. Juno nudged forward, then hesitated, her thumb hovering millimeters above the drop button. The trolley rocked again, lighter now, and an unexpected insight flickered—the abrasion on the glass formed a crescent directly over the point where the claw always began its ascent. She adjusted left by a hair; Griffon’s shoulders tightened, then settled when the claw stopped above the mark. Neither child nor cabinet declared a goal, yet the pause felt like a hinge in the room’s quiet momentum.
The button clicked. Cable unspooled; chrome fingers descended, grazing a whale’s glossy eye before settling around fabric too wide for a confident grasp. Springs snapped shut. Stuffing compressed. On the upward haul the whale swivelled, slipped, and landed sideways, but the claw still hauled a smaller prize clamped beneath its arc: a keychain fox no larger than a thumb, ears pointed, fur stitched from fragmented scraps of orange corduroy. Juno’s shoulders lifted; Griffon let out a single syllable of laughter that vanished under the machine’s chiming loop.
Juno released the joystick, palms flattening against her thighs, air sliding between fingers and denim. The cabinet continued its cycle, lights drifting toward pale turquoise, motors ticking in slow recoil. The claw drifted sideways on its own as Juno stepped back from the glass.
