A goat in the nearest stall rubbed its horns against the wooden rail. The rubbing set a loose halter rope in slow motion; the rope swung from a hook that stuck out like a unicorn horn. Grain dust drifted across mellow light, and the wood kept a faint, dry warmth under her fingertips. Lana bent her back, ready to lift the bucket over the edge of the trough.
