Blue Slip Draws Rings on the Slanted Clay Bowl -

English 原文
Orla stood at the hand wheel while Gareth waited beside the weathered wooden rim.
A wet earth smell sat close to her nose, and cool air brushed her wrists.
She turned the wheel with both palms, and the small clay lump began to revolve.
She lifted a swollen sponge heavy with slip water, and pressed it to the spinning clay.
A thin sheet spread under her fingers, then slid away and pooled at the base.
Rings of cloudy water swirled in the pan and tapped softly against the wooden wall.
She moved her thumbs inward, and a shallow bowl rose; its wall slanted toward the center.
She pinched a narrow groove near the lip, and the slip gathered inside it.
It crept over the edge, then ran in a slow ribbon along the turning wall.
She dipped two fingers into a small cup of blue slip and touched the rim.
A fine line trailed behind her nail, and the wheel carried it into tight spirals.
One pale streak stayed stubborn in place, and the rest flowed past it and thinned.
Cloudy water in the pan swirled again, then slipped through a small hole and dripped.
A tiny bubble rose inside the blue line, swelled, and popped against her knuckle.
Two dots jumped onto the weathered rim and left a third mark on her cheek.
She rubbed it with the back of her hand and drew a small blue smear.
Gareth steadied the base while she lifted the bowl and set it on the drying shelf.
Blue kept sliding along the slanted wall, crossed the earlier ring, and gathered at the groove.
A last bead hung there, shook once with the slow spin, and dripped.

Gareth
