The morning light is warm.
Noemi kneels near a tide pool.
She presses a flat stick down.
A narrow path opens in sand.
Water dribbles, then sand falls.
The flow stops at the break.
A small mound rises nearby.
It looks like a sand mountain.
The loose wall blocks the exit.
Noemi shifts closer to the mound.
Her partner Bea steps beside her.
Bea says, "Water is coming."
They lift a piece of driftwood.
The surface feels rough and dry.
They press it against the wall.
Sand packs firm under the plank.
Water starts to slide again.
A thin river forms and glitters.
It winds around the sand mountain.
The shining line reaches the sea.
A crab darts from a tiny cave.
Shells clatter as the crab scurries.
Noemi watches the moving shell trail.
The wet sand edge is darker now.
