Warm sand slips under my toes.

I scan the bright beach.

Morning light floats above water.

I look for my brother Eli.

A dark wet line crosses sand.

Water still drips inside groove.

I step along the line.

Next, tiny wet footprints appear ahead.

They point toward a tipped bucket.

Shells slide and make a funny clink.

My family chats beside the boardwalk.

A gardener rakes seaweed behind them.

I raise my hand and wave.

One more mark catches my eye.

A shallow wet valley cuts the sand.

Foam fills it and then clears.

Eli stands past the valley, smiling.

I jog and stop beside him.

He points at a crab waving.

The wet sand cools my toes.

Cool sand rests under my toes.
