Bea stands near the trough. Why does the mud shine? Sunlight dots the wet ground. The air is warm.
Bea scoops mud with hands. The mud feels soft and cool. She presses an oval base. The grown-up watches and smiles. The grown-up says, "Nice shape." A chicken bumps the bucket. Water dribbles; edges melt outward. The new situation looks messy. Bea grabs the short stick. She shapes a tiny vase. Dust settles on wet surface. The brush sweeps loose grass away. The vase now stands upright. A duckling splashes then waddles off. Bea holds the vase steady. The duckling waddles away downfield.
