Where is the small plane?

Shea stands by the bed. A clean laundry smell stays in the air. Warm sunlight lies on the rug.

Shea kneels on the rug. Soft loops press her knees. A shallow shoe dent rests nearby. She looks under the bed. A bright stripe blocks her view. "Good morning, Shea," the grandmother says. Her voice stays soft.

She tilts her head left. The sunbeam slides a little. Time and light move it. Air moves. The curtain edge flaps once. The sun patch reaches the frame. The grandmother's fingers weave yarn. Needles click.

The bright stripe thins now. She sees the toy plane. She keeps hands on knees. She does not grab the plane. Dust floats. A younger sibling peeks in and taps the doorframe.
