A woody smell rises from the blocks. Janet kneels near the low shelf. Her hands stay by her sides. A glass cup sits on the sill. Dust drifts. The grandmother sits in the corner. A sport magazine rests on her knee. She watches the mat.
A powerful spin carries the top. It whirls past a damp patch. Janet follows it across the mat. Her knees press the soft nap. A fresh wheel line is clear. A pale track still shows.
The top wobbles near the shelf. It drifts toward the cool shadow. Janet shifts left for a view. Her view improves. The top taps a stray car. The car rolls out. "It rolls far," the grandmother says calmly.
The top slows and leans. It tilts once, then stops. Janet stands still by the shadow. The top clicks once.
