The insect marched onto the wet paint without warning.

Its feet dragged red streaks over the fresh green line.

Sam gasped and reached to lift the messy visitor away.

The tray shook, and the card slipped under the bench.

Paint drops dotted the floor in small bright spots.

Sam picked up the card and studied the new pattern.

He turned the long smear into a tall garden tree.

Blots from the beetle became red petals around the trunk.

Soon the scene looked lively and even better than before.

Sam set the beetle outside on a safe leaf.

He placed the dry card on the table.
