The Hawk's Dropped Mushroom- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Soft morning light fell across wet leaves.

Milo walked beside Sara on the forest path. A tall stump stood near a clear pond. A bright red mushroom sat high on the stump. Milo pointed at it and wanted to draw it later. He needed the mushroom for his page of colors. He placed his sketchbook near a rock. Then he started to climb the twisted roots.

A thin root snapped under his boot and slid away. The loose root struck the pond and sent water outward. Circular ripples moved across the glassy reflection of a cloud. A gray hawk glided low after the sudden splash. Its sharp talon brushed the mushroom while it passed. The cap flipped from the stump to a lower branch. Milo blinked, steadied himself, and reached the branch easily. He took the mushroom and placed it in his small bag. Sara laughed and pointed at the floating root. The hawk rose higher and vanished into the bright cloud. Milo closed his bag and picked up his sketchbook. They walked toward home along the quiet path.
