English 原文
Clara eased her basket trolley through the whooshing doors, then noticed a thin silver smear curving across the steel-grey floor. Minute droplets glimmered beside it, spreading like cold dew scattered across the untouched stone-smooth floor. Cold fluorescent light bleached the rows of metal racks, and a faint herb smell oozed from a half-open cooler. She pushed toward the produce mist, the front wheel scraping faintly, yet the cart kept slipping toward the frozen cases. At a pale floor seam the wheel caught, halting her midway between shelves stacked with pristine blue-white milk cartons. Clara leaned on the handle, trying to wield steady pressure; the trolley rocked once but refused to roll free. A small boy near the cereal section squeaked overjoyed laughter; the sound rolled across the tiles past her pause. She glanced back; the smear caught the overhead light, reflecting a pale ribbon toward the automatic doors.
She crouched, brushed the rim of the stubborn wheel, and spotted the tiniest ridge shining like graphite on paper. A dime lay wedged between rubber and metal, its edge carving the silver path she had followed from the entrance. Clara tilted the cart backward, holding the corner a breath longer; the coin slipped to the tiles with a mute spin. She nudged the dime aside, straightened, and guided the wheels; this time they rolled cleanly toward the bakery’s stainless counter. A pale-crusted loaf waited under the humming slicer, yet the slow queue formed another silent barrier. Near the misted lettuce stand, a timer hissed and left translucent beads quivering on every vein. Shelf-edge labels had been printed in pale grey and mirrored softly on the tiles beneath her knees. She rolled the dime between thumb and forefinger, glanced toward the distant desk, and finally dropped it into the basket cup holder. The streak that had stretched from the doors was already breaking into faint specks across the steel-grey tile. Clara rolled the freed trolley forward, gliding straight through the still cooling silver specks pattern.
