A sweet earth smell surrounds a limping cat. Lily kneels on wet grass. Her teacher reads on the step. The cat lifts one paw. Mud sticks under that paw. Lily finds a short stick. She pokes the mud gently. The lump stays hard and stuck. A picnic blanket lies beside. Lily tears one thin strip. She wraps the cat paw. The wrap soaks the mud. Wet fibers loosen the dirt. Lily peels the mud off. The paw presses the stone path. The cat steps without wobble. Leaves shine under clear light. "Good work," the teacher says. Lily makes a tiny dance. Her shoes tap light beats. A vet neighbor waves over. He notes the clean paw. He nods and stays quiet. The cat slips through the gap. It trots beyond the gate. Only soft paw prints stay.
