A damp leaf spins down. Morning light touches the path. The air is cool. Clyde stands in the back garden. He hears a bird chirp. Clyde waits beside the fence. A piece of waste string dangles. He leans toward a small knothole. A broad leaf blocks the hole. Clyde bends lower for a gap. Now the leaf no longer hides. Through the hole he sees grass.

Bright petals please Clyde; he grins. A red apple sits beyond. Wind rolls the apple closer. The apple bumps the gate bar. Clyde walks to the low gap. He bends and peers through. The apple now rests near mud. The grown-up hat brushes it. The grown-up looks upset at dirt. A bird flaps and startles the hat. The hat lifts, the apple rolls away. The leaf rests on wet grass.
