“I see your ball,” Giselle says. “It is near the hole,” Nell says. Giselle slides the twig under the ball. The twig slips on the smooth side. It slides back. Not far. She presses from the other side. A round pebble sits by a stone. She sets it at the hole edge. She nudges the ball over the pebble. It rolls to the bench leg. The twig clicks on the stone. Giselle taps the twig on the stone again.
