A warm tea smell drifts.

Paul kneels on the rug. His knees press thick weave over an old fold. A bright stripe sits on the wall. Dust floats.

Paul looks at the window sill. A chocolate-brown wooden goat stands there. A small train engine stands beside it. A green bud lifts on a small plant. Their shadows lie inside the stripe. The stripe sits a little higher. Paul tilts his head and waits. The grandmother sets the engine nearer the glass. The engine’s dark shape meets the bud. Together they look like one tall horn. Paul exclaims, "Oh!" "It is bright here," the grandmother says.

Paul watches the shapes stay still. Steam rises. A pale patch sits by the rug. An uncle passes; his sleeve crosses the stripe.

溫熱的茶香飄來。
