Is that the grandmother's steam puff?
Eve sits on warm grass. Her forearms rest on her knees. The flat stone is smooth. A pale dust line stays on its edge. A dry leaf smell sits low.
Eve looks at the flat stone. A cap and a nut rest there. A leaf shadow reaches the stone. Light moves. The nut rolls a little, then settles. Eve tilts her head to see.
The grandmother speaks in a low voice. "The tea smells nice." She tastes her tea.
Two squirrels race along the oak branch. Their feet pat the bark. A slow breeze slides past. The cap taps the nut and stops. At the bench, the thermos stands. A smaller puff curls above the thermos.
