Marco carried a small basket along the garden path today. He planned to gather bright herbs for tomorrow's class display. Soft sunlight touched leafy rows and showed clusters of white yarrow. Marco felt determined and hummed a song while walking forward. He bent, picked stems, and placed them neatly inside the basket. A hidden root caught his foot and broke his steady rhythm. He stumbled; the basket swung and knocked against a low branch. The branch shook, dropped twigs, and pushed the gate half open. Wind rushed through the new gap and scattered the herb pieces.

Leaves whirled across the path, some landing inside a shallow puddle. Floating stems carried a hint of healthy green fragrance downstream. Marco blinked, then chased the runaway herbs toward the garden fence. Smooth stepping stones crossed the water, so he used them quickly. One stone wobbled and splashed water over his shoes and ankle. He regained balance, lifted the floating yarrow, and shook off droplets. Under that same stone, a small silver coin suddenly caught light. His eyebrows rose, and the shiny surface may inspire new sketches. He tucked it beside the herbs, closed the gate, and walked home.
