When Water Spilled- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Nina carried a small plant to the school garden. She wanted to plant it during the short lunch break. Bright morning light filled the art room. The plant came from her grandfather's yard, a rare gift. Nina believed careful practice in gardening could grow her knowledge. She searched for a small shovel, the best resource nearby.

A stack of paint jars blocked the cabinet with tools. She moved one jar, and two others rolled toward the sink. Water splashed out, slid across the floor, and reached her shoe. Nina jumped back, but the shovel inside the cabinet fell forward. Metal hit tile, rang like a bell, caught the teacher's attention. Mr. Lopez hurried over and steadied the jars without a word. He nodded, then left her to continue. Nina wiped the water with towels, clearing a dry path. She carried the plant outside and pressed it into fresh soil. Leaves shook gently while she packed earth around the stem. The bell rang; wet footprints marked her busy trail behind. She closed the gate of the garden.
