English 원문
Beneath the bronze-colored dome of the city planetarium, Leo threaded through a slow-moving queue. The club’s annual reunion drew hobbyists clutching telescopes, notebooks, and, in Leo’s case, a battered camera fitted with a new glass prism. He hoped to catch the simulated supernova the technicians had promised: a brief, blinding bloom inside the dome, reproduced from satellite data. Overhead speakers hummed; lights dimmed portion by portion, like curtains closing one panel at a time. Whispered jokes drifted, small pockets of whimsy sparking between strangers. Leo lowered himself into a seat, rested the camera on his knee, and waited for the machinery to begin its long choreographed rotation.
The first projection arrived softly, a wash of lavender and cobalt that skimmed across every face. As the dome gears turned, a steady rumble passed through the floor, answering with a metallic throb in the armrests. Leo lifted the camera. The strap caught on a bolt under the cup-holder, halting his reach; he shifted, and the lens cap slipped, clinking against the metal step. Heads pivoted toward the sound. A lark perched on an exterior support beam startled at the echo and fluttered across the small skylight above, its wings briefly interrupting the starlight image. Laughter rippled through nearby seats, the bird’s unscheduled cameo fusing nature with the manufactured sky. Leo retrieved the cap, finally raised the viewfinder, and framed the swirling colors ready for the promised burst.
The climax stalled. Instead of the radiant blast, projection lights flickered, then died. Cooling fans sighed and stopped. Darkness pressed close, relieved only by the thin skylight where the lark had vanished. A hush deepened; electronics now silent, the dome felt vacant. Without warning, the roof’s sliding shutters parted—a mechanical safety reflex triggered by the blackout. Real sky poured in: late-summer constellations, a crescent moon, and, slicing unexpectedly between them, a meteor that burned bright enough to etch silhouettes on the crowd. Gasps rose; hands lifted instinctively, phones and cameras catching the flash that no program had scheduled.
Leo’s finger twitched on the shutter in reflex, capturing the meteor’s tail before it vanished. The accidental frame carried a fusion of artificial preparation and celestial spontaneity, a private supernova gifted through mechanical failure. Around him, tripod legs scraped, and voices overlapped in quick, breathless descriptions. The projector remained dormant, yet a different show had unfolded, unrepeatable, unplanned. Pale standby light rested on the curved seats.
