The morning air smelled of damp earth, and a single bee passed over quiet petals. Many small footprints have marked the soft path beside the wall. Beside a low stone wall, a young rabbit nose twitched toward a tidy garden. A narrow gap was left open under the gate. Humans had carefully tried to cultivate the plot. Tender leaves promised soft bedding, so the rabbit pressed under the gate. Suddenly, a dark cloud slid across the sun; light dimmed and wind bent the resilient grass. The rabbit’s path narrowed when a fallen watering can rolled, blocking the shortest route back to the burrow. Raindrops started tapping the dry soil, and the scent of wet metal mixed with clay.

The rabbit darted between rows, yet water spread like a shallow stream across the soil. Whiskers quivered, and small paws skidded on the slick ground. A green stem, which had been broken earlier, lay across the puddle like a tiny bridge. The small animal sprang onto the unsteady bridge. At that moment the bridge shifted and revealed a cluster of bright leaves under the arch. The plant gave off a sharp mint smell that insects disliked. Field mice often treat it as a gentle healer. The rabbit gripped several stalks with its teeth, then bounced over the can. Though fur dripped, each leap showed raw resilience against wind and rain. At last the rabbit slipped beneath the wall again. It carried the mint toward home while silver drops kept falling around its steady steps.

兔子在行列間疾奔，但水流像淺溪般漫過泥地。牠的鬚毛輕顫，小爪在濕滑地面打滑。一根先前折斷的綠莖橫在水窪上，像座小橋。小動物跳上這座不穩的橋。就在那一瞬，橋晃了一下，拱下露出一叢亮綠的葉子。那株植物散發強烈薄荷味，昆蟲不敢靠近，田野裡的老鼠常把它當成溫和的療癒者。兔子用牙齒咬住幾根莖，隨後跳過澆水壺。雖然毛皮被雨水浸透，每一次躍動都展示出對風雨的韌性。終於，兔子再次鑽過石牆下的縫隙。銀色雨點持續落下，牠帶著薄荷穩穩地向巢穴走去。
