The Tumbled Basket- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Mira walked into the garden with a small basket. She wanted a red vegetable for dinner. Late sun warmed the small garden. Bright tomatoes grow near the wooden fence. One tomato looked especially appealing to her eyes. Green beans curled along strings beside the tomato row.

She reached for it, but a brown chicken darted forward. Its wing brushed her basket and toppled it to soil. Carrots rolled, and one touched the sleeping dog nearby. The dog woke, jumped up, and barked at the chicken. Startled, the chicken pushed a watering can against a clay pot. Water splashed over the fallen vegetables and darkened the earth. Mira laughed, then gathered the wet food back into place. She picked the same tomato, still shiny after the chaos. Drops slid down her arm, but the basket stayed firm. She closed the gate and walked toward the kitchen door. Light from the kitchen window touched her full basket.
