When Marbles Rolled- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Soft morning light filled the small kitchen.

Milo opened a round tin and smelled new cookies.

He wanted to hide them inside the tall glass container.

The container waited on a high shelf above his head.

A narrow stool stood nearby, yet its legs looked uneven.

Milo placed several cookies on a plate for safety.

He climbed the stool and felt it rock under his feet.

The stool tipped left, and one foot scraped across tile.

Milo swung an arm, touching the container with sudden force.

The glass slid, struck a spoon, then produced a short ring.

The spoon tapped a mug, shaking marbles inside Milo's pocket.

The marbles rolled down, increasing the motion of the rocking stool.

Milo pressed one knee outward and caught the shelf for balance.

The shelf stayed firm, so he guided the container to center.

He stepped down, breathed fast, then lifted the glass lid carefully.

A tiny paper boat rested on crumbs inside the container.

Milo's eyebrows arched, and his mouth opened without a word.

He arranged cookies around the boat and snapped the lid shut.

One marble stopped near the fridge and glittered under the light.

Milo picked it up and placed it beside the sugar jar.

Soon tiny ants arrive near crumbs scattered across the smooth tile.

He watched them follow a narrow path behind the fridge.

The stool now rested flat against the wall.

米洛伸膝頂住，抓住架子保持平衡。

架子穩住，他把玻璃罐推回中央。

他跳下凳子，大口呼吸，然後小心掀開罐蓋。

一隻紙船靜靜躺在餅乾屑上。

米洛眉毛挑起，嘴巴張成圓形。

他把餅乾排在紙船四周，再把蓋子扣緊。

一顆彈珠在冰箱旁停住，映著光微微發亮。

米洛撿起彈珠，放到糖罐旁。

不久，小螞蟻聚到地上散落的餅乾屑旁。

他看著牠們沿著冰箱後方的細縫行進。

凳子此刻平貼在牆邊不再晃動。
