English 원문
Leo stepped into the garden shed, carrying dried mint and an iron kettle. Kid-sized blue handprints dotted the cracked door, and frequent water stains darkened the shelf. Warm sunlight crossed the floorboards, and a faint smell of old paint mixed with earth. Leo’s goal stayed simple: boil water for tea before afternoon shadows reached the bench. He set the kettle on a tiny gas stove that has served many seasons. An orange cat slept near the cold chimney; its ears twitched when metal touched metal.
A sudden gust slipped through an essential gap in the roof and flickered the stove flame. The flame shrank, so the water inside cooled instead of rising toward steam. Leo propped a baking tray as a shield, yet another problem appeared. The cat woke, padded closer, and batted the hanging spoon with curious paws. The spoon clanged against the hot kettle, shaking it over the narrow burner. Leo has learned patience during frequent repairs, yet he moved quickly now. He slid the cat’s dish of milk under the table, and the animal followed the scent. With the path clear, he tilted the kettle so the leak faced away from flame. Heat built again; a thin whistle grew until a sharp jet burst from a rusted pinhole. The jet struck a loose paint blister, and a small green marble rolled onto the floorboards. The cat pounced, tapping the marble across dusty boards while steam rose in lazy spirals. Leo lifted the kettle free of flame, and quiet settled around the drifting curls.
