English 원문
Mira had chosen the quiet footbridge at dawn, hoping to retrieve her vibrant kite from the iron lattice above the canal. A transitory gust on the previous afternoon had lifted the frame over the railing and left it dangling. Its tail flashed like a brief parable against the pale sky. Today the bridge hummed with early traffic below, yet only Mira and a stocky brown dog occupied the wooden deck. The animal stood beside a paper cup, nose twitching. A lone crow served as an impatient orator on the lamp post, cawing each time she studied the tangled line.
She drew a slender fallen branch from the riverbank below; the bark felt rough and cold in her grip. The branch acted as a mediator between her reach and the fluttering toy. The first prod only tightened the line around a rusted bolt. She shifted position, bracing one boot against the railing while the dog padded in circles, scattering dry leaves. On the second attempt the branch slid through the loop, but the knot held fast and splinters scored her palm. Wind shifted direction, pushing the kite against the metal with a hollow slap, and the crow fell silent, head tilted.
A sharp bark broke the pause. The dog had nosed the branch’s thin end, and its sudden shove loosened the knot Mira had battled for so long. The kite slid free, but momentum carried it over the opposite side of the bridge. Fabric grazed the railing, caught a new gust, and drifted downward like a torn leaf. Mira hurried after it, boots thudding on timber planks, yet the canal received the frame before her fingers arrived. Colors that had once looked vibrant on high now floated on dull water, spinning toward the stone arch beneath the road. Ripples dimmed around the floating kite frame.
