That cooler bucket held old slurry; drips reheated its skin, fog rose, condensed on the hanging sieve, and beaded drops slid through the mesh, pattering the drying shelf. A sudden crack followed: the half-dried cake split down its centre. Tobias pushed the rack into shade, blocking sun so the chain of heating and dripping could calm. Behind him, the hose kept tapping the puddle, ripples marching toward the garden edge in silver rings.
