English 원문
The basin’s rim felt gritty and cool under Kestrel’s forearms as she leaned in to draw.
Fine mist touched her knuckles, and the paper pressed back with a damp, springy give.
Her ordinary notebook lay open on the cool stone, with her drawing equipment arranged by habit.
Pencil in a loose grip, she tried to cultivate steadier strokes by slowing each wrist turn.
Wind crossed the fountain, and a drifting spray began to smear the darkest part of her arc.
She lifted the page, shifted her elbows, and set her water bottle near the corner as a weight.
Yorick stood by the flower bed with his camera strap against his neck, feet planted wide on the paving.
“Looking steady?” he said, raising the lens, while Kestrel adjusted her breath and found the next curved line.
A sharp hiss burst from the grass beyond the path, and cold drops tapped her ankles and the stone.
Sprinkler heads spun, soaking the edge of the fountain, so Kestrel grabbed the notebook and jogged to the gazebo.
Under the roof, the wooden seat gave a damp wood smell, and pigeon calls bounced off the boards.
Yorick wiped his lens with a sleeve and said, “It started early today,” then lifted the camera again.
When the spray eased, she returned to the rim, and the water pattern had changed to thin, stringy threads.
The earlier pencil marks had dried with faint rings where atmospheric moisture had sat on the page.
Her corner weight still held, yet the lower edge curled a little, and her wrist brushed the rough rim.
She slid the water bottle under the back like a wedge to lift the pad and keep the paper clear.
With the angle set, she traced the new threads as narrow ropes, short bursts mapping their rise and collapse.
“New pattern now,” Yorick said, feet steady, elbows tight against his ribs as his camera balanced.
Kestrel lifted her forearms, closed the notebook, and set it on the bench to let the pages air.
On the paving, the sprinkler heads clicked twice and sank, while the fountain thickened by itself and kept pattering.

Yorick
Kestrel
