The boxes toppled and sent nails dancing across the plank. Nails hit a hanging rope, and the rope swung wide. The wide swing pulled a safety rail over the path. The lowered rail blocked the crate and stopped the wild tumble. A loose lid from one box spun like a thin disc. It rolled away and knocked crumbs from an open sack. Crumbs rained down; the mice scattered as burlap brushed their whiskers. Thin dust swirled under the lowered rail toward the door.
