Leo, Maya, and Ben have spent many lunch breaks on one shared hobby. They build a small wooden car powered by a rubber band. Today the spring fair offers a friendly race where homemade cars compete on a narrow track. Their bright vehicle, which they finished yesterday, waits beside others at the starting line. A tall student, known as the fastest athlete in school, polishes his sleek blue car nearby. Flower petals drift across the track, carried by a light breeze that has grown stronger through the afternoon.

Whistles blow, and every team releases its car. The tall student’s machine surges ahead until a sudden gust pushes the flower petals into swirling piles. One bright petal wedges beneath Leo’s front wheel, and the motion stops. The wheel is blocked, and the athlete’s car gains precious meters. Maya lifts the car gently while Ben flicks the petal away with a small stick. Leo, who has a spare rubber band in his pocket, snaps it onto the axle. They keep in mind that unexpected stops can happen, and their teamwork stays quick and silent. The little car shoots forward again, passes the blue one, and rolls over the finish mat first. Petals continue to spin behind it, settling slowly on the quiet track.
