He has promised his younger sister a thick sauce with basil. The platform shines with puddles because earlier rain has flooded the tiles. A train arrives already packed, and shoulders press against his backpack. Evan steps back, choosing to wait for the next, quieter carriage. He reaches street level, yet a sudden road repair blocks every nearby bus. Wet traffic crawls, horns echo, and the closing time now feels dangerously close.
