English 原文
Morning light slid across the empty classroom. Leo balanced a paper hummingbird mobile between his palms, careful not to bend the fragile wires. He had spent three evenings perfecting each joint. The wings had been folded from bright foil wrappers collected after lunch. Glue marks dotted his fingertips, faint silver crescents that caught the light when he turned the model. Today, he aimed to attach the mobile above the window before his classmates arrived. He hoped the creature might spin when the breeze arrived. His fingers tightened with determination as he reached for a stool. However, a stuck window latch refused to turn, blocking his first attempt to gain enough height.
He shifted the stool, yet the varnished legs skidded. An avalanche of pencils rattled from a nearby shelf, scattering across the tiles. Crouching, he gathered them; their clatter echoed, reminding him of the existence of time slipping toward the bell. A second approach followed: he knotted extra string, hoping to loop it over a ceiling hook instead. If Leo had checked the knot earlier, the string would have held. The hurried loop unraveled and the hummingbird drifted downward, wings spinning like a leaf. Determination flared again; sweat dotted his forehead while he trimmed the frayed end with scissors that had been left on a desk.
On the third try, he steadied the stool against the radiator and used a binder clip to bite the wire frame. The clip clicked shut, and the mobile finally hung, dipping first to one side, then settling. Just then, the door opened; a gust followed the arriving students, pushing air toward the window. The hummingbird whirled, and sunlight struck a foil wing, casting a sharp patch of color. The bright shape slid across desks until it paused beside the teacher’s seat. Whispers circled the room as more heads tilted upward, their chairs scraping, yet no one reached out to touch the spinning bird. Mr. Blake blinked behind his glasses and stepped aside without a word. A small rainbow rested on the closed notebook.
