Market Square Before Rain-

English 原文
Clouds stacked like gray towers over the market square, yet a hush floated between the stalls—the calm before the storm. Lyra arrived with a bright paper kite folded under one arm. Beside the fountain a street chess table waited, pieces already arranged by a strategist who thinks outside the box; he had moved a knight to the board’s edge to attract passers-by. Lyra’s goal stayed simple: lift her kite once, capture a quick photograph, and leave before the first drop. She pulled the line, but a tight knot clung near the spindle. Her fingers turned, tugged, loosened a single loop, and the string slipped free only to catch again on the rough stone rim, delaying her launch.
Wind shifted as carts rattled near the bakery. The strategist across the board examined the unusual position, then stood, becoming merely a strategist among shoppers rather than a performer. A low rumble drifted from the western wall of clouds, turning every umbrella upward. Lyra spotted a cluster of colored ribbons tied to a festival cannon set for the evening show. A technician tapped the barrel, stepped away, and the device misfired. In an flash a plume of confetti burst into the air; ribbons twisted upward, met a sudden gust, and spun toward the chess table.
The eruption formed a briefly frightening spectacle. Shredded crimson and silver fragments showered across produce baskets, startling pigeons into a swirling roof-level flock. Lyra’s kite jerked as the gust rolled through. The stubborn knot shot loose at last, but the sudden freedom dragged the spindle from her palm. It clattered along the pavement, dodged boot heels, and lodged beneath the chess table. She crouched, reached, and brushed stray confetti aside while recovering her line.
Another rumble sounded, deeper now. Market awnings flapped; stallholders secured boxes; a fresh gust cooled the square. Lyra planted both feet, lifted her arms, and the kite rose just above the fountain spray, cloth snapping against thickening air. A single flash of white light blinked inside the cloud bank, and shutters surrounding the square banged closed one after another. Lyra clicked her camera once, lowered the kite, and folded the frame quickly. Thin ribbons lay scattered across the wet stones.
