Windchime on the Porch-

English 原文
Mira tapped the empty hook above the porch. She had promised herself that the new windchime would be ready before her cousins arrived at dusk. The instructions had been printed in tiny letters on a folded card, yet nothing about the job looked difficult. She fetched a wooden stepstool, a small hammer, and a box of nails. The late-spring air carried the scent of cut grass while curtains of cloud drifted west. A tabby feline lounged on the railing, tail flicking like a metronome. She murmured that there was no time to dawdle, then climbed the stool and tried to fix the first nail.
The stepstool slipped on a loose pebble, and the nail bounced into the grass. When she searched, the feline pounced and chased the shining speck, sending it deeper among the blades. If Mira had tightened the stool’s leg first, the metal would have stayed in her hand. She fetched fresh nails, yet the rising wind spun the chime so wildly that each swing missed the hook. After three failed tries, her neighbor Jonas leaned over the fence. Without discussing rules, they began to collaborate. They arranged a quiet division of labor: Jonas steadied the stool and caught the chime’s ring, while Mira guided the hammer.
Even their first joint attempt faltered when a sudden gust snapped the ribbon that held the wooden clapper. Jonas replaced the ribbon with a spare shoelace, and Mira knotted it twice. The feline, still curious, batted a small plastic ball toward them; Jonas laughed and tied the ball beside the clapper before lifting the frame again. This time the hook accepted the weight, and the hammer settled. A new, playful melody drifted across the yard, sharper than the instructions had described but pleasant all the same. Above the porch, the patched windchime swayed and rang beside the quiet roof.
