The Runaway Kite- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Lily carried a bright kite to the park. She wanted strong wind to lift the paper wings. A light breeze arrived, and the kite climbed quickly. Suddenly a small monkey dashed from the nearby trees. It caught the string and pulled with fast jerks. The kite dipped, brushed grass, and tangled around a bench. Lily ran after the monkey, her trainers tapping the path. She jumped over a low hedge to stay close.

While Lily chased, a green parrot watched from a branch. The bird dropped a dry twig straight toward the running pair. The twig landed near the monkey’s foot and rolled away. The animal slipped, released the string, and tumbled onto grass. Wind picked up again, pulling the free kite above the trees. Lily skipped forward and grabbed the handle before it soared higher. The string hummed as the kite steadied in the stronger breeze. The monkey sat upright and blinked at the floating shape. The parrot flapped away, scattering soft leaves onto the path. Lily tied the handle to her wrist and stepped back. The kite floated quietly above the park.
