Starfish Under the Shifting Tide-

English 原文
Low tide peeled water back from the wide estuary, revealing corrugated mud and scattered pools. Maya slid a narrow paddleboat from a weathered rack, its green hull scraping softly along the damp boards. She steadied a small camera around her neck; pale sandbars shimmered farther out, and she aimed to reach them before the returning water closed the path. Two gulls glided overhead while thin wind pressed against her jacket. Stewardship of the channel had left floating booms near the bank that trapped stray plastic; they nudged against the hull as she pushed away, then drifted aside. Oar blades dipped, and shallow eddies swirled around the bow.
Progress slowed where a hidden bar pinned the keel. She leaned her weight and rocked the craft, but silt gripped tighter. A cloud sailed across the sun, the sudden shade darkening the exposed seabed around her. She set the paddle across the gunwales, stepped into ankle-deep water, and tugged. The first pull slipped; her boots sank, sending bubbles that popped near her shins. On the second pull the boat slid free with a hiss of mud, though a thin film now streaked the paint. She climbed back aboard, then skimmed over a narrow channel stained tea-brown by peat, the current pushing harder than before.
A flat sandbank surfaced ahead like an island laid only for an hour. She grounded the bow and jumped down. Hundreds of starfish clung below the clear film of water, their arms fanning over ripples. The sight stalled her steps. A light gust crossed the bank, forcing retreating water to fold away from the creatures; in that moment many lifted together, their pale undersides flashing. The pattern resembled a living mosaic that rearranged with every small wave. She knelt, brushed a fingertip through cool water, and clicked several photos before the outer channels refilled, curling around her boots faster than earlier.
Tide and wind worked together, erasing dry sand and tugging at the loose camera strap. She hurried back, shoving the paddleboat until it floated clear. The return passage felt shorter; each stroke flicked droplets that glittered in slanting sunshine. Floating booms bobbed once more as she crossed them; litter drifted along their inside edge toward waiting nets. Gulls circled lower, then settled on a piling near the ramp. Evening light rested on the quiet paddleboat beside the ramp.
