English 原文
Late in the afternoon, Nora balanced a box of tangled fairy lights and bright party favors against her hip. She climbed the steep hill toward the silent observatory, feeling stones shift under worn boots. She had promised her friends a rooftop celebration beneath genuine stars, so she planned to prepare the dome before daylight faded. The outer gate yielded with a sigh, yet the inner brass knob refused to turn. The heavy iron shutters had been firmly bolted from inside many silent years earlier. After several attempts, her wool glove slipped and the box tipped, scattering whistles across the gravel like startled birds. Jaw tight, she brushed dust from her knees and scanned the curved wall for another entry.
A narrow service window, crusted with rust, stood slightly open beside a forgotten rain barrel. Nora set the box beneath it, stacked two loose crates, and gripped the sill with cold fingers. The first crate wobbled, so she shifted her weight, yet a plank snapped and dropped her heel onto wet stone. She steadied herself, dragged the barrel closer, and tried again, this time slipping through the window with scraped elbows. Inside, stale air met faint oil while dusty light revealed an unsigned declaration beside faded constellation visuals on a desk. She looped the fairy lights over her shoulder and hurried toward the spiral stairs at the room's center.
At the stairs, more resistance greeted her: several steps had collapsed, leaving gaps wider than her boot. She dragged a tripod across the floor, bridged the gap with its legs, and edged upward toward the deck. By the time she cranked the dome panels apart, night had settled and town lights glittered far below. She wished she had brought a sturdier ladder, because the mechanism groaned with each turn, yet it obeyed. Then, without warning, a meteor shower streaked across the opening, brief flames offering enlightenment of every dusty bolt and streamer. Below, colored streamers still lay scattered across the wide wooden deck floor, untouched since her tumble. A band of thin starlight now rested on the wide, newly opened dome.
