English 原文
Warm sunlight brushed the garden shed, and distant traffic hummed under it. A sweet fragrance of cut grass mixed with sawdust drifted through the open window; a beeswing flickered in the beam and settled on the vice. Marisol had found an old birdhouse whose paint showed a captivating swirl of faded blues. She has measured the cracked roof twice, and the plank that rested on the bench looked just wide enough for replacement. A grey squirrel crouched on the sill, its tail twitching whenever her hammer struck. Several nails had been bent by rust, so the lid refused to lift.
The sun touched the hedge; shadows stretched and shortened the working space. Marisol lifted a small hand-saw to chop a fresh strip from the plank, yet the blade caught halfway because a knot stuck out. While she adjusted the angle, the squirrel hopped onto the roof, and the added weight forced the lid open at last. A cascade of hidden acorns rolled onto the table, bouncing over screws and brushes. Surprised, Marisol paused, then tilted the box so the acorns spilled outside. The squirrel raced after them, claws clicking on the boards. Light now reached the empty interior, and the new strip slid smoothly into place.
