The Basket Spill- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light filled the narrow street.

Nikki carries a wicker basket of bright oranges today. She walks toward her grandmother's small blue door. A market stall blocks the usual shortcut between two houses. Many visitors crowd around a dancer in traditional red cloth. Nikki turns left, passes a bilingual volunteer greeting tourists cheerfully. A playful dog darts under her arm and bumps the basket.

Oranges roll across smooth stones toward a man with a camera. The man steps back quickly, tripod legs knock over a tin toy. The toy rings loudly, pigeons burst upward and swirl above heads. Visitors pause; the sudden space lets Nikki gather her oranges again. The bilingual volunteer kneels and drops two fruits back inside. Nikki nods once and lifts the basket. She turns onto the quiet lane beside the blue door. Oranges sit firmly now, and soft juice still scents the air. She slowly pushes the wooden door open.

清晨的陽光灑滿狹窄的街道。

妮琪今天提著裝滿鮮橙的柳條籃前行。她走向外婆的藍色小門。兩棟房子間的近路被一個市集攤位擋住。許多遊客圍著穿著紅色傳統服飾的舞者。妮琪左轉，經過一位用兩種語言招呼遊客的志工。一隻調皮的狗從她手臂下竄出，撞到籃子。

橙子滾過光滑石頭，朝著拿相機的男子去。男子迅速後退，腳架撞翻一個鐵製玩具。玩具響起清脆聲響，鴿子猛然飛起，在眾人頭頂旋轉。遊客停下腳步，突然空出的空間讓妮琪重新撿回橙子。那位志工蹲下，將兩顆滾遠的果實放回籃中。妮琪微微點頭，提起籃子。她轉進藍門旁安靜的小巷。橙子此刻安穩放好，淡淡果香仍飄散空氣中。她慢慢推開木門。
