Morning light filled the tiled kitchen.

A small sparrow glided through an open window.

Crumbs waited high on a steel counter.

A chrome scale held most of the crumbs.

Warm air rolled out each time the oven hummed.

When the heat paused, cool air moved across tiles.

The change came again; warm rushed up, cool slipped down.

A kitchen timer ticked beside the glowing knobs.

The sparrow twitched wings under the rising and falling air.

Warm current lifted the bird slightly from the sink edge.

It waited until cool air lowered the swirl.

Then the next warm push arrived and carried the bird higher.

It landed near the scale and shook loose flour dust.

Heat from the oven tipped one light crumb forward.

The cool return followed and the crumb slid off.

The piece hit the floor near a quiet toaster.

It lay like a tiny offering on the smooth stone.
