The Flicker Inside the Claw Machine-

English 原文
The warm-plastic smell drifted around Greta the moment her sneakers touched the arcade’s rubber tiles, a scent she knew even before the music reached her ears. She had come here after class countless times, so the claw machine standing in the corner carried the comfort of a hallway light left on. Seldom had its glass looked so cloudy; fingerprints formed a lattice across the pane, and the joystick decal lay scraped to a faint ghost. During last winter, a caring mentor occupied the repair bench near the change machine, yet only an unscrewed hinge and a folded stool remained today.
Greta leaned close; the cycling LEDs washed the plush heap in slow lavender, then mint, and a stuffed cactus flower glowed gold for a heartbeat. Beside the cactus, two pirate dolls reclined elbow to elbow as though bound by an unspoken truce agreement, their felt swords dulled by lint. Kane arrived with a single token pinched between finger and thumb, his reflection overlapping Greta’s in the glass so that both faces seemed borrowed from the same silhouette. Her sleeves rolled higher, Greta nudged the joystick left, and the trolley responded with a tired rattle, the claw tracing a lazy arc above the toys.
Now the claw slipped forward; tiny gears clicked, yet a slight tremor in the cable warned that the descent might stall before reaching the cactus flower. Greta pressed the drop button, then halted halfway, her thumb resting but unmoving as she noticed three fresh scratches carving crescent shapes on the inner roof rail. What froze her was the pattern: each crescent lay directly under a light panel, and each panel flickered for a second before the scratch appeared deeper. Were the trolley smoother, the metal fingers would have floated cleanly, yet the scratches hinted at repeated jolts she had never witnessed during earlier afternoons. Between those flickers, lavender light thinned into silver, and for an instant the plush pile resembled a jellyfish bloom suspended in seawater, tentacles replaced by dangling price tags.
Greta whispered nothing; instead she lifted her thumb away, allowing the claw to hover untouched while the trolley timed out and rolled itself to the starting box. The cactus flower settled back beneath lavender, the pirate dolls sank deeper into their comfortable haven of fabric valleys, and the joystick lamp dimmed to amber. Greta stepped sideways, leaving the token balanced on the control panel; Kane mirrored the move, both sets of footsteps absorbed by carpet stripes fading toward the door. Behind them the LEDs kept cycling, yet the glass now held only their vanishing silhouettes and the slow refraction of light across the untouched prizes.
